Pros

Large company, good experience at seeing how one works - trying to coordinate many, many different functions across the global enterprise.

Cons

I don't think people managing specific divisions know what the hell they are doing. It appears that the automatic way to get promoted to one of these position is to serve time in the Cigna army by going abroad and putting in time on behalf of the company there. Sure, the experience is good for these folks, but in no way does it make them qualified to make sweeping decision across a broad range of business services in the United States.

Pros

Opportunity to work remote from home

Cons

This is by far the worst position I have ever worked. 0 work/life balance. The micromanagement that I have experienced goes beyond any company I have ever worked for they nitpick at everything. How long you were on a call, how long were you documenting, how long it takes for you to respond to a message, how long you had someone on hold.. This is a call center job that for some reason requires a bachelors degree. Do not let the title of the position fool you. Whether they call you a personal advocate, lead case management representative, behavioral advocate… It’s all just a fancy name to draw your attention. All you do is give out referrals and confirm benefits. You’re not utilizing any of your education. You’re treated horribly, training is insufficient, and you are expected to work like a robot. The leaders will make you believe you have the opportunity to move up after a year, but I have been working this position for over two years and have yet to be promoted. There are hundreds and thousands of employees applying to the open positions, so good luck getting promoted with no opportunities to even network. If you’re stuck on a call and you go over your lunch/break by an hour, you lose your lunch/break. You have to request a unscheduled break if you need to use the restroom- otherwise you are not allowed. Also, you can only take a 15 minute unscheduled break per day. Every day is a new complaint from management. Feels like you’re being harassed on a daily basis. This job takes a very special person. They boast about their great health plans, but will take over $60 out of each paycheck for you to still have a $3000 deductible and a 70% coinsurance (that is just for me as a single individual). Most of my issues began after I requested FMLA; seems like there is discrimination due to disability.
