Pros

There is a fair expectation of security. There are no layoffs. Benefits package is comparable to their competitors.

Cons

Compensation is 10 to 25k less than their competitors. It is fairly clear that they consider you replaceable. The centralized HR has no idea who is a good employee and who is not so raises are not assigned accordingly. Extra effort will get you nowhere because of this and you should expect 3% yearly no matter how well you perform or how hard you work. Policies on dress code and employee appearance are out of date. If an underwriting assistant job is offered to you I would not recommend taking it. Advancement from that position is extremely limited and the position is the catch all for the things that no one wants to do.

Pros

Not too stressful day to day. Work from home once a week. 6% 401k match. RSUs and stock options. $2.50 credit for lunch everyday in the cafe. Free holiday stock (1 stock for every year of service with a max of 10 stocks per year). Great stock loan program and nice way to do DRIP (Dividend reinvestment program). You feel valued and can run your territory like it's yours. Has an HSA and will give you money for it if you pass a health exam.

Cons

If you get a bad manager then you could be in trouble (most are great but a few ones aren't). They can move you within the department without much notice. Have to travel 2 to 4 times year which some might not like. If yours agents are mean then it won't be great coming in each day. The old people complain a lot.
