Pros

Working from home is the best part. The company covers the cost of your internet service, an office phone and cell phone along with all supplies. There is a company car program as well.

Cons

Workload and expectations are not realistic for a multi lines adjuster who is responsible for nearly every aspect of the claim. High growth areas such as the northwest, southwest and southeast are struggling greatly and turnover is up. Service growth has not kept up with sales growth.

Pros

The company really does take good care of you. It can be hard to get in if you don't know someone, but once you're in, you don't have to worry about fighting to keep your job every day like some places. Good benefits that are mostly paid for by the company, and you can add on spouses/kids fairly easily and cheaply. They match 6% of 401k contributions, which is huge and stacks up quick. Options to buy company stock are great too -- you can buy stock on a no-interest loan and pay it off automatically from your checks over time. And since the company always pays dividends, the loan gets paid down pretty quick and it's a good supplement to your retirement plan. You get an allowance towards lunch in the cafeteria every day, which has lots of tasty options. The building is in good proximity to a variety of restaurants too. Bonuses are based on your personal performance and the company's performance. Working at an insurance company has its perks when it comes to your coverage as well. You can get coverage slightly cheaper outside the company, but if anything ever happens where you need to use your insurance, you can be sure that you'll be taken care of quickly. I got rear ended on the way in one morning and had a check to get the car fixed before I left that day. Can't beat that. And if your department is paperless and your job allows it, you get to work from home one day a week, which is nice.

Cons

The company is a little bit behind when it comes to technology. Hardware is good -- my laptop is quick and new, monitors are new and ergonomic, etc. They do lag a little bit when it comes to software, however. Some of the systems designed and built in house are a little clunky, and overall OS updates tend to be slow to roll out because of compatibility issues with other systems the company uses. The HR department isn't the best either, unfortunately. When I was contacted about an interview, it was by e-mail, not by phone, which I feel is a little bit unprofessional. They apparently struggle with quick turnaround time on applications as well, because the e-mail I got asked me if I was a still interested in the position, not when I could interview. Probably just an inefficiency problem, but it is a little off-putting as an applicant, so that should probably be addressed for the future.
