Pros

There is so much potential for this to be a great company. But once you figure out what's behind the curtain, it's disappointing. There's a huge facade of caring about the employees. Nope. You are as expendable as dirty socks. The owner sends blogs daily about one thing, but his actual practices totally contradict those blogs. He makes irrational decisions that hurt the properties and make it so hard to function and be successful. And everybody in any capacity to reason with him, is afraid to tell him the problems.

Cons

The entire regional staff is so far removed from being onsite. They bombard the onsite teams with so many things, that they all become overwhelmed and stressed out all the time. Moral is always low. People are in constant fear of their jobs. Property visits from the owner and regional team members are often negative experiences, all the work you and your team have killed themselves over go unnoticed because all the owner can see is some leaves in a gutter and a dirty window. And heaven forbid you actually try to properly staff your office. If a leasing specialist is sitting at a computer it is automatically assumed they aren't doing anything and they must be let go because you are overstaffed.

Pros

When I started with the company 14 years ago, it was a good company that truly appreciated it's Team Members.

Cons

The upper management just continue to give themselves promotions (making positions when there isn't one) and raises. They don't care about their Team Members that work hard to make the company successful. The company has changed dramatically towards the Team Members as well as the residents of their apartment communities. They are cold & hard people who only care about making money. They talk about being customer service driven, etc but that's a huge joke. The company only cares about the almighty dollar. The turnover rate is huge. They'll try to explain that by saying that they hire a lot of college students for part time work and of course they move on. But the turnover at the regional level is high as well. Regional Community Managers come and go like a revolving door.

Pros

Competitive Salary, decent benefits, Owner offers HSA card to offset out of pocket expenses.

Cons

My experience at Collier Companies was deeply disappointing. The workplace culture had a cult-like dynamic that discouraged authenticity and independent thought. This toxic environment originated at the executive level and filtered down through site leadership and even HR. Most employees operated in a state of fear, as terminations often happened without any formal coaching, write-ups, or opportunities for improvement. HR, rather than being a resource or support system, was widely referred to as “The Grim Reaper” due to their role in these abrupt dismissals. Trust was virtually nonexistent. Regionals are more concerned with protecting themselves than working as a team. Despite promises of development and support, there was minimal training or clear direction. Collier has its own Language essentially very specific way of communication with a heavy number of acronyms , and email style placing the entire body of the email in the subject line. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values transparency, psychological safety, or ethical leadership.
