Pros

-Reward and recognition program -pay was competitive

Cons

-No HR in the company- which is how it was allowed when I was written up for taking my PTO time. -You work hard and sometimes really long hours. Especially during the summer when it’s peak season and you’re required to work Sundays as punishment (again because no HR) -more consequences than recognition -they take quitting personally (They send emails when higher ups or managers get fired/quit, and we all got an email recently berating a manager for quitting to spend more time with his newborn -A sales associate is required to work 3 out of 4 weekends while managers didn’t have to work but 1/2. I was actually told that in May I would’ve had to work every weekend because we were understaffed. -if you were off on Saturday, you were a 6 day work week the following week. -very demeaning managers and training was meant to break you down. I originally trained to be a manager but stepped down due to constant abuse and “giving me a slice of humble pie” -you’re told from day one “you don’t know anything, don’t try to reinvent the wheel because we don’t want to hear what you have to say until you’re believable and knowledgeable. -Absolutely no growth potential. You will stay stagnant. Lastly, if you quit and you aren’t favored by the managers, they’ll delete you out of the system on your next off day and then you drive an hour to work just to be told that today is your last day without warning.

Thank you for the feedback. Admittedly, The Connor Group is not for everyone. Associates are given honest, direct feedback constantly. This is also not a 9 – 5 job. If you’re looking for somewhere to punch a clock, you won’t be successful here. When an associate is terminated, we are candid about their departure. The memo you described regarding an associate leaving to spend time with their newborn was followed up with another direct communication that same day explicating recognizing our most successful associates are equally successful moms, dads, wives, husbands, daughters and sons. We know the relentless pursuit of excellence is not limited to the work environment. We aim to hire and retain the elite of the elite, and often these individuals excel in all aspects of their lives. The first communication did not align with our core values, and for that, we take responsibility and have steps in place to make sure this does not happen again. Our associates are not written up simply for “taking PTO time.” While we will not publicly share the specifics of your case, proper processes surrounding requesting and using PTO time and working scheduled hours were not being followed. You are correct, we do have associates work Saturdays. We make this clear during the interview process. Associates who work Saturdays do not have to work it as an “additional day,” at our properties. We schedule associates to work 10 days within a 14-day period. We are sorry The Connor Group was not the right fit for you.

Don't Do It

Pros

You have the opportunity to learn how to run a business.

Cons

Turnover is exceptionally high. People are brought on constantly from hospitality and retail positions and usually gone within a year. You will not end up with better hours. Just longer hours taking up a majority of the day. One person is fired as another is hired. So if you take the job just know it is not a long term career and you will likely quit or be fired within 6-12 months.

As any performance oriented company you will always have some turnover. With that said, as we have communicated to all associates and new hires, we need to improve here and we are! The things implemented the past 2 years are working well and it is down over 25% this year alone. I will disagree with you saying it is not a long term career however, as we have associates at all levels that have been here over, 5, 10, 15, and 20 years. You also mention you will likely quit or be fired with 6-12 months but you state you have been here more than a year? I would love to hear what your are upset about and see how I can assist. Please feel free to reach out to me at 937-434-3095. Thanks,
