Unfair Workplace

Pros

I get two weeks vacation, 2 personal days, and paid holidays.

Cons

Very unfair work environment. A person is only promoted if the ones in charge like you. I think higher ups should promote good, capable workers and ask everyone, especially those who have been there for years and are reliable if he/ she is interested in moving up. And always making cashiers ask customers for donations is uncomfortable. Customers don't like it and I hate it. If I wanted to be in sales, I would get a sales job and make commission on my sales. We get nothing and there's no incentive for asking. And all these new changes and the new remodel is HORRIBLE. Beer and wine area is too big. Many products were discontinued to make room for beer. Customers not happy.

They only care about the bottom line.

Pros

There’s a lot of locations so there’s a chance you won’t have a far commute.

Cons

Managers only care about the bottom line. They don’t care about the associates at all. There were times when I was pregnant and felt too pressured to get a job done so I would forego bathroom and other breaks/lunches. Benefits are a disgrace. There’s a non existent work/life balance as it’s not unusual to get bothered at home. Would never return or recommend.

Pros

Meeting good, honest people who work hard and need their jobs.

Cons

meeting others who need their jobs and have to depend on tiny little women with huge egos who make the schedules. it is a nightmare working for this company if you truly have to feed your family. I just decided, after working here a few years ago to share my assessment of this company. Getting written up for "voids" in a four hour shift. Unbelievable. never in my professional life have I experienced such backstabbing, hateful, people who make the schedule. God forbid you are not sucking up to them. You get no hours and they have a way of pushing you out. its disgusting. I am an accounting Manager who runs a company of over 100 people. I took the job because I thought it would be fun, meet people, give to the community etc. what a farce Giant is to work for. Its all about the giant egos of the management teams in these stores. the women with the giant egos who make the schedules. I know they have a title. their titles should be Sucubus in charge. What a joke they are. Disgusting human beings to play with peoples livelihoods. Giant needs a serious revamp in their management style.
