Pros
Company spends considerable resources on information systems; Benefits are good for industry.
Cons
Human Resources at local level does not support employees in advancing their careers with the company. There is a class system in place with those in the sales organization at the top making it difficult for employees in other areas to be considered for advancement opportunities. If pursuing a positioni, do not count on human resources to make the process any easier even if you are a top rated employee with outstanding reviews and higher than average pay increases. There is also a strong tendency to pursue inexperienced outside hires over those with experience within the company. The company has invested heavily in employee monitoring- recording all phone conversations, all computer use, and documentation of time spent performing tasks, etc. Essentially applying call center technologies to all employees while selling the notion the purpose is to "train you to perform your job better" That is not the focus of its use. The company can be strict on time off--if in a large department some managers will impose their own rules on taking time off such as no scheduled leave during December; requiring expenses to be submitted within two weeks (or they will not be paid) when the corporate policy is 30 days.
