Pros

Coming from diverse background as an immigrant and a woman of color, I feel HPN understands the delicacy, importance and complexity around diversity and inclusion in the workplace. I wake up every morning pumped to walk into work--sounds cliché, but so true! I have been with HPN for almost 11 months but it feels forever. The mission that drives this company is incredible, and it really unites everyone to work collaboratively as a team to provide the best affordable housing solutions to our members as well as our communities. I love the concept of open office space and open door policy which makes my work even more easy. Everyone including the leadership team is very approachable and empathetic. People over here will leave no stone unturned to praise you if you have done something extra ordinary or gone out of your way to help them. At HPN, it’s all about employees and their professional development & well-being. Leadership is always looking for new ideas to make continuous improvement in their policies. Any changes made to our policies comes from our working groups. HPN listens to their staff and develops/ amends the policies. The company offers a competitive health insurance plans with 80% of annual premiums paid by HPN, dental & vision coverage with 95% of annual premiums paid by HPN, 401k match, generous PTO along with 12 sick leave days, 11 holidays, and 1 personal day, --- comfy office with natural light and healthy snacks – lots of room for career growth along with individual development. Leadership team will help you focus on your next career steps, in setting up mentorships and having one-on-ones to meet your goals. Since I’ve started (11 months ago), I ‘ve seen 4 of my colleagues being promoted so growth in the company can be fast and is expected. It’s the best decision taken for my career & proud to be a part of this HPN family.

Pros

To start, it’s about the people. Everyone at HPN is smart, talented, passionate, and dedicated to our mission. They are also incredibly kind and compassionate. There's a real opportunity for growth, ownership, and innovation at HPN. I have seen and personally experienced a significant amount of professional growth at HPN and the amount of support and encouragement I have received from leadership is extraordinary. HPN offers a robust professional development program to all employees as well as flexible schedules, the ability to work from home, and a family-friendly work environment. Leadership recognizes and appreciates that we are more than just employees and they provide a great work-life balance to foster our whole-selves. In addition to promoting the growth and development of the staff, leadership at HPN are constantly making positive changes to the organization and striving to create the best work environment possible. The benefits offered by HPN are countless and great. In addition to flexible scheduling and remote work referenced above, HPN offers paid vacation, sick, personal, bereavement, and holiday time. They also provide paid parental (maternity and paternity) and sabbatical leaves! Their 401(k) match is greater than any other company I have ever worked for and employees are fully vested on day one! HPN, of course, offers the basics like short and long-term disability and life/AD&D insurance. The organization also offers some great cultural benefits such as hosting volunteer days, and giving events (providing holiday gifts to children in need), as well as social events (employee appreciation days, staff and team lunches, casual gatherings in the lounge after hours…), team building events, and all-staff off-site retreats. HPN has an open floor plan and “open door” mentality which allows all employees regular access to leadership. Lastly, HPN is an inclusive organization that celebrates the diversity of its employees. They have an employee-led committee that plans special events to observe and celebrate the traditions of our employees.

Cons

Not a con for me, but I could see it being a con for some - HPN offices are all open - no private offices (not even for the CEO). They do have phone rooms for private conversations.
