Pros

Collaborative culture, smart people, strong offering, two founders are wonderful people

Cons

Struggle to think of any. Advice I’d give to every organization as the job market heats up: stay on top of market trends for compensation, make sure your compensation is competitive to retain your current employees and attract new talent.

Pros

This is a solid company that asks for feedback and takes action to make improvements. They listen to their employees. If you do good work and dig in, they will work to create opportunity for you. The people they hire truly are willing to help each other become better, which is awesome!

Cons

It can be a bit clique-ish, and they should work harder to acknowledge more than just the squeaky wheels. There’s a lot of talent here and sometimes they focus on a smaller sect for recognition. The anniversary emails are one small but perfect example of a gesture that could be improved. Some put more effort in than others and for the recipient, it can feel like you are less-than based on who is in charge of the email. People notice the tone and effort, etc. The small things matter just as much as the big things, more than I think they may realize, and it can make or break the culture.

Pros

There are none for this place.

Cons

If you're smart (and I know you are) you'll see through all the vague "positive" feedback posts on this site. I worked for this place for a year and was treated exactly like those who wrote negative reviews. I saw many people come and go, all coincidentally just before their year was up, including myself. I presume so there would be little to no raises to pay out. It is a dizzying environment to keep everyone straight with the constant hiring/firing. Pay attention to the reviewer that mentions the in-house contest for positive reviews. Did you notice that the bulk of these are incredibly general in content and how they are primarily "anonymous employee" listings? If you choose to work here, just know that you will not be valued, be it pay, benefits or otherwise. I have met recruiters, former employees and let's just say this company's reputation is notorious.

The Mx Group Response
7y
We’re sorry you didn’t have a good experience here at Mx. While we know that each person’s experience is unique and everyone is entitled to their opinion, several things mentioned in this review are not true and we would like to clear up the facts. This review implies that it’s common practice for employees to be let go just prior to their 1-year anniversary, and that the reason behind it is to avoid paying raises. That is just not true. In the past 5 years, we haven’t had a single person terminated in the 3 months leading up to their first anniversary. In addition, our salary reviews are aligned with the calendar year (Jan 1), not anniversary dates. Beyond that, the spirit of this review is inaccurate. Our employee tenure and retention are quite high, especially compared to other companies in our industry. Our average employee tenure for current employees is 6 years. Of all of the hires we’ve made in the past 2 years, 89% of are still employed here. We’ve been named as one of the Best Places to Work in IL for five years in a row, and one of the Best & Brightest Companies in Chicago for the past three years. Our company is financially strong and growing, and we’re hiring! We encourage those reading this review to check us out for yourself. www.themxgroup.com/careers
