      Pros

      Great company, great benefits, honest work that is for the greater good of people and nature.

      Cons

      Individual chapters or programs can vary in their treatment of employees. Expect to be doing a lot of grunt work and menial tasks if you are hired for anything except a high level position. Best to get hired in as a director right from the start, otherwise, opportunities for advancement are only possible if you are willing to relocate.

      Pros

      It was a very fun job, that I loved while it lasted. Good benefits if you have a permanent position. Other employees tend to be supportive and enthusiastic.

      Cons

      No advancement potential. Low, low pay. Sometimes long hours without compensation. I had a permanent position with them for several years, but was laid off among many others. I then took a temporary position with them. During the time I worked there it seemed like resources were being directed more into marketing and philanthropy, and away from biodiversity science.

      Pros

      Nice, smart employees who all believe in the companies mission. Great to do work for which you feel you've contributed to the greater good at the end of the day.

      Cons

      As is typical of many non-profits, TNC is behind the curve in their systems and strategies in some of the business units. Change is frustratingly slow there. Very bureaucratic. Tout a 7 hour work day which I guess is supposed to balance the low salaries. While there are plenty of 9-to-5ers, you have no such luxury in Marketing, where work-life balance is difficult.
