Pros

TNC operates so ethically from the top down, across units and across teams. There is genuine commitment to work-life balance and management encourages staff to prioritize mental health and connecting with nature whilst meeting organizational goals. The mission itself is so compelling and each day you have the opportunity to learn about projects fighting climate change. TNC provides resources, trainings and mentorship opportunities to ensure staff feel supported and informed about the mission and their job function.

Cons

TNC is a large organization so you have to make the effort to know colleagues outside of your unit. You also have to allocate time for the wealth of trainings available.

Pros

People are kind, great mission/values, relatively 'flat' organization that isn't hierarchical. Encourage 35-hour work week, and can optionally take every other Friday off for "Nature Fridays" (if work hours earlier in week, get work done)

Cons

Because organization is hierarchical, decisions can take time. Also, some teams are all remote, which is great, but less of a sense of community than at other organizations/institutions. Often more work than can get done in a 35 hour work week, so the suggested work hours are great, but amount of work needs to back this up- since folks are passionate/involved in many projects, they tend to work more than 35 hours/week to get projects done.
