Pros
Benefits. I met some nice people/lifelong friends while working there. There are a few dedicated individuals but they are trampled and overshadowed by backstabbing managers who will say and do anything just to try to protect themselves.
Cons
Low Pay. Bad Management. Unsatisfactory training. Politics. I've never worked in such a dysfunctional environment. I was the scapegoat for one of the most dysfunctional environments in the history of the university. The department where I worked has a reputation for being dysfunctional and hostile, and it lives up to it. My manager refused to provide me with training then she and others would proceed to bully me and insult me on a daily basis for months. I've never worked in such an unprofessional, unsupportive environment in all of my life. People are in constant competition...for what, I don't know, because pay is low. The university has screwed me over multiple times for the sole fact that they are highly disorganized: paperwork and applications have been lost and I have been lied to by more than one person in management/HR. Overall, a hostile environment. Just stay far away unless you happen to find a job in a small department.
