Pros

- You'll likely meet interesting members/clients - Hours are flexible - Culture is supportive (celebrating team's birthdays, wins, etc.) - You work solo on shift - Can help members get stronger, which feels rewarding

Cons

- The methodology is hard to explain to members and harder to stand by. The company prides itself on being evidence based, but cherry picks research studies to sell that this is the most effective to train. You'll be trained to tell fitness-related lies to members based on these cherry picked studies. - Low pay, and the company will change your compensation plan if they think you're making too much money. - Top performers be warned. Hustle culture doesn't even begin to explain it. Good, hard work gets rewarded with more work. - Benefits are really poor, almost nonexistent. You won't have health insurance (it's a "supplemental plan," good luck if you break a bone) or dental/vision. Paid time off is paid at minimum wage for your state, so if you get sick or take a trip your paycheck will suffer. No mental health benefits either. 401k starts after 1 year of full time employment. - Culty culture. Upper management often pushed the “we’re a family” narrative, which at first sounded warm but quickly became unhealthy. This mindset blurred professional boundaries, discouraged people from honestly speaking up, and created pressure to put the company above personal needs. Genuine feedback or individuality was often seen as disloyal, and there was an unspoken expectation to conform and constantly show enthusiasm, even when morale was low. Which is funny because "candor" is one of the company values. - Working here does not make you an actual, nationally certified personal trainer. You're either a cheerleader for a person using a robot workout machine that runs itself, or counting to 10 while they exert on a Nautilus machine. You won't be able to train at any other facility if this is your only fitness experience, unless it has the same exact model.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the supportive aspects of our culture, the flexibility in scheduling, and the rewarding connections with members. We’d like to clarify a few points. Our training methodology is rooted in research, and while we understand not every approach resonates with everyone, we’re proud of the positive outcomes it delivers for many of our members. Regarding pay and benefits, our compensation is competitive with industry standards, and we continue to review and evolve our offerings to meet the needs of our team while supporting the overall health of the business. We also recognize your feedback on culture. Our intent in fostering a close, team-oriented environment is to build connection and support, not to blur boundaries. We’re committed to creating a workplace where employees feel both included and respected as individuals. We appreciate your contributions during your time with us and wish you success in your future endeavors.

Pros

• The clients are genuinely a joy to work with and often the most rewarding part of the job. • The workout method is unique and structured, which some clients respond well to. Though, it is not the single best workout method for everyone as the company likes to claim it is. • You’ll learn fast—mostly because you’re expected to handle a lot right away.

Cons

• Heavy micromanagement, even for experienced trainers and supervisors. There’s very little trust in staff decision-making. • Pay is low and roles are part-time only, but you’re expected to give full-time availability and energy. • Constant turnover makes it hard to build a stable, consistent team environment. • Advancement opportunities are limited, and even leadership roles come with minimal added compensation or autonomy.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that you felt this way during your time at The Perfect Workout, though we’re glad to know you enjoyed working with our members. We value the dedication and hard work of all our trainers, and we’re always looking for ways to improve the support we provide to our team. We do offer both full-time and part-time opportunities across our studios and strive to ensure our compensation remains competitive within the fitness industry. Our workouts are rooted in scientifically evidence-based methods designed to help clients achieve safe and effective results. While we aim to provide strong guidance and support, our intention is never to micromanage. We are highly invested in the growth and success of our team members and work hard to foster an environment where trainers can feel both supported and empowered in their roles. Your feedback is important to us and will be shared with leadership as we continue working to make The Perfect Workout a rewarding place to grow your career.
