Pros

Location was fun to work at

Cons

Poor leadership, changing metrics, was given my raise on a sticky note and asked to choose one and that’s how I found out what I was making.

Pros

-great co-workers -get to work at a zoo

Cons

-Completely exploitive, rude, and entitled management with awful communication skills. Lots of hardworking employees are quitting because we're constantly being threatened and condescended to by multiple higher-ups for things as basic as asking for clarification. You might also get blamed for management's shortcomings of their own policies. If the manager decides he doesn't like you, or he's just having a bad day, he will cut your hours last minute, write you up for non-offenses, antagonize you, and embarrass you in front of your co-workers. Concerns have been brought to hr as well as the regional SSA manager multiple times, yet the only response we get is corporate appeasement picnics with corn-hole. We are treated like actual children. -They do not pay their employees equally, and none of us are paid nearly enough. We are constantly lied to about pay policy, for example: The current grounds manager told an employee that if you don't notify management first, you will not be paid for any overtime hours you work (Quite sure that is illegal). At least one employee was lied to about their wages when they were hired. Apparently, driving the trash truck went from $17/hr to $12/hr, (also according to the grounds manager). -Scheduling is lacking in a lot of areas. Longstanding employees are not prioritized, sometimes your schedule is changed in the middle of the day/week without notice. You may be sent home in the middle of the day. Your time means nothing. They blame this on a change in leadership, but it's been happening since well before. -It's a lot of walking in all of Michigan's seasons, in between cleaning up after guests. Policy has also recently changed, so we're currently banned from taking any kind of break in closets, other staff buildings, or anywhere in public view, which leaves.... nowhere?

Pros

The pay is good and scheduling is flexible

Cons

The SSA has no idea what its like to actually work in the positions they manage. Their uniform policy of all black would be fine if we weren't standing outside in 80°+ weather for hours on end. And be sure not to get heat stroke if you have work the next day, because if you call off for any reason, they take off points. 2 points for calling off (even in cases of an emergency or a doctor's note is provided) and 3 before your warning. Any points after that = fired. Basically an excuse to fire all the elderly and disabled employees who have to call off frequently due to medical emergencies. They set you up for failure. Horrible policies that just hurt their employees.
