Pros

You learn more about the student housing industry, opportunity to travel to corporate office in Chicago for training and end of the year rewards. Pay is also good.

Cons

Not open to new ideas, it's their way or no way. Expect all managers to be dictators and perform task of those under them. Require you to work weekends, with literally 1 hr notice. Work life balance is basically non-existent. Everything is very business like, not organic.

Pros

-Nice location -Free fancy lunches -Breakfast available

Cons

-Healthcare is extremely expensive!!!! It’s clear that they don’t like employees to have families, because if they did, they’d offer a better healthcare package for those who do, instead of charge you the full premium. Don’t think they understand that to stay competitive they need to offer family benefits! -Maternity leave is only 6 weeks paid, rest unpaid. Again, to stay competitive they need to change this, and as mentioned above, they don’t like families. Also, you need to have worked there for a full year to even earn the right to take maternity leave. -They don’t promote from within, which is why you see so much turnover. -Still living in the 90s, some of the staff has desktop computers, not a laptop that they can take home if they needed or wanted to work remote, which gets to my next point, they don’t believe in remote work because it’s all about optics at the corporate level. -You’re salaried but paid and given PTO as if you’re hourly because management didn’t want the hassle of dealing with the payroll side of property level as hourly and corporate as salary so they do it together, you get paid a week in arrears which is strange if you’re used to a salary paycheck. You also can’t take PTO before you earn it, which most companies allow. -It’s all about the optics with them. -Upper management is all friends, it’s a boys club. -Turnover!!! Most people have worked there less than a year, a bit unsettling to see.

Pros

Free food sometimes, free coffee at our property

Cons

Management not very intelligent, work usually gets pushed on one of the workers instead of shared equally, not very effective overall, corporate does not understand change in lease numbers due to new properties in the area.
