great facilities and services; core facilities for science and human resource services. Library is very good and well connected.

Cons

many old employees started to leave when new management came on board creating gaps in knowledge

I work from 9-5. My pi is relatively well funded. However, you will not have these privilages in most labs.

Cons

No mentoring. You are basically a slave. I don't know any PIs who are interested in training their post docs. You have zero chance of getting a job in academia. I am in Jupiter campus, intellectual environment is very poor, no seminars whatsoever. I think part of the reason is that our institute is not doing very well financially and close to bankruptcy. Just do a google search and you will see. Jupiter, Florida is very isolated and boring place. Overpriced housing.

Pros

This is a great environment for focusing on basic research with little outside distractions. There is access to cutting edge biological/chemical research technologies and the intellectual environment is outstanding. The pay is better than the average academic job.

Cons

There is generally not a lot of financial support for the average junior faculty. You are entirely dependent on funding your own lab, including your own salary.
