Pros

The Trevor Project is the best place I've worked. The people are super passionate, super smart, and fun to be around. The atmosphere here is really fastpaced and I've never worked in an org growing so quickly, so focused on innovation, with a laser focus on scaling to help more LGBTQ youth in crisis. Really glad to see the focus on hiring more folks, investing in more programming, and growing out the People team.

Cons

The work can be really difficult. There's no way around that. The subject matter is tough and we hear from the kids who are really struggling every day. Wish the Crisis Services Team and People Ops team were bigger--glad to see the focus on really investing in people though hoping more roles can be brought on soon. We really need that full time recruiter here. Like yesterday. And I loved the happy hour last month but hope we have waaaay more social events in the future.

Pros

this is the most rewarding job i've had. i have worked in the non-profit and for-profit sectors before and this is by far the nicest and smartest group of people i have ever worked with. really impressed by the the investment in people, from the new office, to great health care benefits, to harvey milk day, which we just got off, to our new people officer. this place is growing fast and there is such an emphasis on the mission and doing work that helps lgbtq youth.

Cons

the expectations are high and it's a very fast paced atmosphere, which i actually like, but it's definitely not for everyone

Pros

Great place to feel, "gushed over" and "praised", if you need an Ego boost.

Cons

"Crisis Counselors" are minimally trained for the presented severity of the suicide problem in the LGBTQ community. Trevor advertises their services to the public as more of a general counseling service than an actual "serious" suicide prevention. TOO MANY calls are not suicide related which tires volunteers. Employees and volunteers greet each other in the LA office with extremely odd, slurpee affirmations.
