Pros

Competitive salary amongst other local health systems in the Las Vegas Valley. If you are LGBT you will be protected by the VHS Human Resources Director, always go to him and bypass local HR for assistance. Beautiful facilities.

Cons

Upper management make horrible choices on the choice for lower management. It's not best to "fill" a vacancy if a candidate is not the right choice or have no experience. Human Resources only work for the hospitals best interest, not an employee. Employees are discriminated against and HR lets it happen. Very secretive managers and favorites are found within the hospitals. Very "clicky" like in high school days. Very hard to trust people you work with which makes it difficult to be productive through your workday. Lots of gossip. Most departments are short staffed very often which lead to our employee burn out.

Pros

There was a job opening when I needed it, and I accepted the position.

Cons

No growth potential. Stuck in the same job year after year. Pay raises were small. Initial salary was greatly reduced from when I heard about the job and when HR actually called to offer it to me. I almost declined but figured I would work my way up and into a better paying position but that was not the case.
