Pros

Most people you will work with are highly educated and knowledgeable. PTO time is good. Benefits are good, especially health insurance.

Cons

Very cliquish. Toxic team environments. People don't matter, only revenue. They will work you until you drop even if they can afford to hire another body to help out. Some very toxic leaders who contaminate those who report to them. Your performance is based on a comparison to everyone else's performance in your team/group even if you do completely different jobs and it is highly subjective. Performance reviews are very old school and out-of-date, they don't help you to succeed. Promotions are based on if your boss likes you, or if you are part of the "in" crowd, not based on your actual performance. They don't help you succeed, and it sometimes feels like they purposely stand in your way of succeeding. Getting what you need when you first start is a nightmare. Training? What training? Diversity is highly limited in every way. Clearly it isn't valued because it isn't there.

Pros

Pride in mission to make the world healthier cleaner safer

Cons

Numerous reports of gender and minorities wage gaps (with relatiation for bringing up issues) managers withdraw resources and bully employees who complain about being less than lower performing white male counterparts I have watched management tell women to "negotiate better" only to have them labeled as aggressive and pushy once they do ask for raises they deserve. The situation is even worse for Latina woman.

Pros

I just started with Thermo Fisher in February, and am enjoying my experience so far! In general, the company is very trusting and open to employees working remotely. Personally, I work from home 1-3 days per work, and the rest of the week, I enjoy going into the office to continue to build camaraderie among colleagues and hold in person meetings. Thermo Fisher also truly cares about employee development, training and mentorship. They are always focused on continuous improvement, and open to experimental ideas. They continually reiterate their mission of enabling customers to create a healthier, cleaner, and safer world which reinforces your purpose of why you're there and working so hard every day. My colleagues are extremely insightful, supportive, and open to ideas as well. And the flexibility in potential work locations is incredible since they are based all around the world.

Cons

You must be able to hold yourself accountable to your responsibilities and deadlines. It's fast moving, despite it being a large company, and they rely on entrepreneurial self-motivated, well-disciplined individuals to stay on track. Also, you need to learn very quickly. This is a massive organization and they are very spread out, so building a network, understanding available resources, and initiatives throughout the company will only improve your experience.
