Pros

Good people, collegiate environment, start-up type feel Access to many contacts within the Hedge Fund, PE, Credit universe at your disposal Invaluable exposure and experience to front line interaction with the finance world. Ability to broaden industry knowledge by working though projects with clients -- those clients being large, globally recognized investment funds

Cons

Entry level pay regardless of how long you stay. Bonus comp, in their minds, is the way of keeping people around. Unfortunately, this comp scheme seems to change every quarter, which forces employees to have a negative outlook on how much effort they are putting into their day to day. Promotions don't happen often even if you're good at your job No real mentors - head of groups don't really interact with you and you'll be lucky if you're manager sticks around for more than 2 quarters People are thrown into leadership roles without any real experience and subordinates are actually the more valuable employees. You may find yourself reporting to someone who is 2-3 years younger with less experience. Very laid back - too laid back at times and people find themselves complacent and strictly collecting a paycheck
