Pros

This job has given me opportunity to grow and learn. I actually feel like I am a good therapist because of the supervision I have consistently been given. Growth is not easy and working in a residential treatment program brings up all sorts of things for us as well. Getting to the truth with our clients and their families is essential, and so rewarding. I work with really smart, dedicated, honest and creative people who really care. I love that we learn from every mistake.

Cons

There is a learning curve. It is the most difficult at the beginning, however if you work through it you will learn more that you could ever imagine. There are many staff who have been at Third Way for a long time, and there are staff that leave. It is difficult when people leave because it effects the children. The kids are really damaged, and not everyone can weather the storm, but good things come to those who do. People who leave are sometimes bitter, and I think it is because the job forces us to look at ourselves, and that is not always easy.
