Decent for college students

Pros

Gives new college students a great opportunity to boost their resume. Can work part time around your schedule. Pay is okay if you're just looking for extra money. Completely hands-off (no restraining residents). Amazing benefits package.

Cons

Staff yell at each other ALL THE TIME. At least one staff member at each house is left crying almost daily. Major cliques. Pay isn't enough if it's your only income and doesn't compensate for the work you do. I didn't get fired but it happens really easily. I loved the kids and my job, but the staff were all so nasty and cruel to each other that it became impossible to work there, and I was there longer than the majority of the counselors. I left because of staff attitude and ego, which is the main reason any staff quits.

Pros

Great experience for new grads. Good resume-builder.

Cons

I am still traumatized by my time working at TWC. Senior staff would regularly humiliate therapists and mental health workers in staff meetings. I was given almost no training, very little support and regularly screamed at or berated in front of other staff and kids. When the kids I worked with came forth about an adult male staff being extremely inappropriate towards them, senior staff did nothing, accused the kids of lying and said “we need to protect our own” and refused to investigate further. I was told by senior staff not to make a report, even though the state requires therapists to make reports of all suspected cases of abuse. Staff are worked until they burn out and ultimately leave.
