Pros

Nine day flex allows every other Friday off in summer. Celebrates Christmas and Easter. Good Friday off. Good benefits.

Cons

Great common bond is only an idea. Managers expect promotions to mean you do your old job and a second, new job with little to no additional support. They must think time grows on trees. Also, demands are set but directions are vague.

Pros

Great organization with a volunteer spirit. Not-for-profit organization that supports charitable and volunteer giving. Central office located in an excellent part of the country with good community in Appleton, WI.

Cons

Non-competitive salary. A VERY steep learning curve....terminated after 4 months with company, despite needing to learn an antiquated system. Mentors assigned to me needed to regularly refer to operations manual to operate their own system. After only 60 days, was reassigned due to poor volume of output, then reassigned again 30 days later to a new system. Terminated one month later. 12 years of experience in the industry was flushed and a black spot put on my resume for a company that really needed to demonstrate more patience with the learning process involved with their systems and method of underwriting. This very budget-restricted operation looking to expand to entire Christian market will finditself quickly overwhelmed with volume due to the systems in place, unless they overhaul their entire operation structure and invest more in operations. Not nearly ready for this imminent expansion plan.

Pros

* Committed to the community and member financial competency * Decent work/life balance for many...not so much for leadership ranks * Outstanding bonus structure that gets better as you move up

Cons

If you are in IT, PLEASE read this review! This was once the cream of the crop IT job in the insurance industry. But since the merger, the accumulation of American Express cronies and now, Schneider National bullies, have essentially bundled an unruly bureaucratic wet blanket with the slap in your face, "we can get anyone to do your job" culture. EVERY IT project lasts a minimum of one year. 4 months to plan, organize, get approvals, get decisions made, etc. 1 month to let leadership sit on it and then change direction. 4 months to re-plan, re-organize, get re-approved, have decisions re-hashed. 3 months to get 8 months of work done. Some recent moves at the VP level (one left to "find new opportunities" and one got "re-assigned") has made it a little more tolerable, but the pain of this incompetent legacy will live on for many, many years. Read some of the complaints by the Financial Reps in these reviews. Seriously, still on XP, still using Lotus Notes, still using Office 2003, still showing green screen and DOS-based front ends! And these are tools we let OUTSIDE the building and put in front of Members! Its long past time for me to move on. I want my replacement to hopefully read this and run away! Good luck!
