Pros

Unlimited Upside. On the one hand, you have complete autonomy over your schedule and success. On the other, you have to be driven to grind it out to gather accounts/assets. As long as you're willing to do that, it can be potentially very lucrative, particularly after your 3rd-4th year.

Cons

There is a strong top-down emphasis on product - particularly insurance and annuities.

Very good

Pros

Obviously this depends on your specific area and management, but: - Work/Life balance - Christian environment (at least to the extent it is allowed by law) - On multiple bus lines / next to light rail - IT network works well - VTO (Volunteer Time Off) - In the skyway system

Cons

- Slower to react to change (could be a Pro) - Those who are planted in their jobs for life slow down progress due to complacency - Relatively lower pay (yet, you have to consider the weight of all benefits) - Dual headquarters (Appleton, WI/Minneapolis, MN) cause some pains
