Pros

The upside income potential is huge, and there is some inherent trust built in to being a rep for Thrivent. Their new fr financing program is pretty good.

Cons

There is a lot of turnover these days and members get pretty upset about that. It is full commission work after 18 months which is very difficult. Very few people are successful without being heavily involved in a church. So if you aren't religious, going to church every Sunday and getting heavily involved can be quite a challenge.

Pros

The product training was very intensive and detailed. Most of the people were pretty good there, and the opportunity to be successful is definitely there

Cons

Unfortunately, not all of the people are good. There was a lot of disorganization at the "rfo" level (this is the management of the area, like state of PA, or the NY/NJ area etc) in my area, there were layoffs, and it left the launch managers thin in dealing with the newer reps. Communication was poor because of how thin everything was stretched and everyone tells you to do something a different way. They have a good model to help reps be successful, but they just can't execute it.

Pros

The suck of being a first time advisor will probably give you the opportunity to find friendships with your coworkers that you wouldn't ordinarily find. You'll probably learn a lot about the industry and quickly discover what you don't want to do.

Cons

No brand recognition. Long hours. Bad product selection. Directors advise you to use the faith aspect in a way that feels disingenuous to Christianity. If you don't have an extremely high net worth immediate circle of friends, or don't know 1000 people, or aren't comfortable with asking friends and family to pay fees they wouldn't otherwise need to pay - this isn't the firm for you. Also, everyone talks badly of Northwestern Mutual's new advisor program but Thrivent's is virtually the same, except you sling term insurance instead of whole life.
