I’ve worked for large, well known, very established corporations for years. I left these companies because they made you feel like nothing but a number. I was hired at Toast in the past month and I can confidently say this is the best career move I’ve ever made. The people have been wonderful. Even my husband hears a difference on my Zoom meetings - he says everyone sounds positive and upbeat. Only a few weeks in and it couldn’t be more apparent that Toast genuinely cares about their employees. They’re innovative, creative, empower their employees, encourage time off, are constantly growing and look out for their people. This feels like home already and I see myself here for the long haul.

Cons

Learning virtually is always a challenge but the people are supportive and want you to succeed. I don’t see any cons so far. Some may consider the constant change a challenge - but I see it as a positive. Be ready to be agile and pivot on processes, they’re open to new ideas and not a lot of red tape, allowing employees to be innovative and provide feedback for improvement.

Pros

Toast really takes care of their employees. They value uniqueness and demand inclusion. While working from home, they make sure everyone is still able to stay connected. It's by far the best culture I've ever worked in.

Cons

Remote work doesn't allow as much socializing

Irregular hours, when you first get hired you don't get to choose your hours, have to wait until you have more seniority
