Pros
Sales techniques learned in a direct sales organization.
Cons
Beware. This company is a religious cult....(PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING THIS YOUR CAREER. GO ON LINKEDIN AND FIND PEOPLE WHO HAVE WORKED IN THIS COMPANY PREVIOUSLY and connect with them and ask about their overall experience) -Overall the expectations of their employees is outrageous and almost impossible for you to earn the type of money that is "almost promised" to you always in the "first year of selling"... -Basically the sales pitch is that you can earn 10K in your first month selling (The percentage of employees that do achieve that may be at 1%) -TJ operates on a draw and eventually the base pay that they promise goes away (scale) and you are paid completly on your commissions... That was never told exactly to me... -Turn over is high -Constantly fighting internally for clients or "rights to names' in the database -Mgmt is awful (They promote their top sales people into mgmt-- those people have been expected to continue selling so when it comes down to it..... they don't care about you or your sales growth.... they care about how much they are making off of you % wise... when you leave they get your clients) -No gas/mileage reimbursement (They do not take care of their own employees because they are cheap) -Takes approx 3 mos to get any benefit coverage -They market to young college (pref. female) graduates to sell (reasons are self explanatory) -Lack of overall professional in Mgmt and Organization altogether I worked at Tom James for almost a year.... May have been the worst professional move that I have ever made.....I ONLY wish there was a forum that had reviews like this when I started... I have had previous sales careers at different organizations and none of those operated as poorly as TJ The organization overall is a mess.... If you want to make REAL money as a Sales Professional do your research and find an company that has organization and standards.. Tom James lacks this in all aspects... ALSO-- During your sales training they are constantly making references to God and Religion....JUST AN FYI.... I have never really heard that at any company and I am sure that is some HR Violation somewhere.....
