Pros

- Individual teams are friendly, hardworking, and collaborative. I met some of the most talented people here. - Snacks in the office + gym with Tonals - Niche product and cool tech, some cutting-/bleeding-edge tech to work with - People are passionate about fitness! - Opportunities for internal mobility, especially if you go "above and beyond" - Great healthcare and other insurance benefits, culture supports flexible PTO and remote work

Cons

- Lack of transparency from leadership. Layoffs came suddenly to both tenured and new employees, even core employees that built the Tonal product. Remaining employees didn't get any bonus to incentivize staying - Lack of process. The company grew quickly but its processes and workflows never truly caught up; it's way beyond the startup phase, but still scrappy and chaotic like a startup - Re-orgs don't make any sense to teammates, and teams are scattered and picking up the pieces after layoffs - Performative activism in diversity initiatives. Really seem to be trying to "check the box". Also, claims to be making strength training "accessible". C'mon, it's a $3000 piece of equipment... - Underpays its tech roles compared to other market competitors - Hiring favoritism. Lots of folks come in from nepotism or referrals, fast-tracked in the process ahead of the average candidate

Pros

If you have established experience with a CRM the job is really easy.

Cons

Where to start. The pay is an absolute joke for the luxury branding of the company. Nordstrom shop employees are basically the B Team, and not respected at all. I have been in retail for over a decade, and I know my worth. There are no raises, or performance reviews, and even merit based raises don’t happen. Also, don’t expect adequate training, they just expect you to be an expert day one. I was with Tonal for the last six months of their fiscal year not including holiday, and was still their top performing location % to plan for the year, and was not compensated for it. When I approached my regional manager regarding this with the numbers backing up my claim, she laughed at me. Don’t waste your time, go work at Lululemon instead. That’s where I went. They laid off 35% of the workforce, and now are positioning extra projects to the remaining employees as “development opportunities”. It’s a scam. It’s going the way of Peloton.
