Pros

The culture at TQL was a lot of fun. And they do go out of their way to train you. It really is about what you put into it, and if you're willing to stick it out, and you have real salesman skills, you have the chance to succeed there. I didn't make the cut. But I can live with that. You have to have a certain personality to be a hustler. It isn't for everyone. I am doing something I like and am good at now.

Cons

The powers that be in the office will pay more attention to you if you bring in the bucks. Simple as that. As an LAET (Trainee) you get assigned to a veteran LAE, at which point you will basically become his or her slave. A good LAE will train you properly. My LAE, Amy, did not. She would neglect to share vital logistics details with me, then yell at me when I didn't know what she was talking about later. Very annoying. She even admitted to me from time to time that she was not a good teacher. The management made that unfortunate fact my problem by sticking me with her. I was switched to another LAE 3 months in, which helped, but too much time was already wasted. I gained my first customer and started moving freight, but it was too late. I didn't put nearly enough money on the board in time, and I was terminated. I feel that I could have made it if my first few months wouldn't have been wasted. But I digress. Be sure to make at least 100 calls a day, even before you get into the "proving ground" from weeks 26 to 30. Also, if you are seriously intent on succeeding at TQL, you're going to have to put in long hours. There is no way around that.

Pros

Fun environment for the younger workers - very social environment, including charity work, athletic events, and plenty of beer. In a sales role, earning potential is unlimited as long as you put in unlimited hours. Lots of promotion from within. The founder/CEO Ken Oaks is fantastic motivator and a leader you want to believe in.

Cons

Constant grind. No work life balance in sales or in supervisor/manager level roles and above. Must be available 24/7/365 - weekends, vacations. Ridiculous turnover - there's a reason. Many young inexperienced workers bring some unprofessionalism into the building.
