Pros

Employees you work with understand the hell you go through so you have a support staff

Cons

Don't let them sell you on all it takes to succeed is putting the work in. After I was hired recruiters would joke around about how much the job sucks. Even brokers that become successful making good money are let go at any time and their customers are given to other employees. Classic example of the rich getting richer.... Also the company has about 85% turnover within the first year

Pros

unlimited earnings potential, decent technology

Cons

Groupthink at its worst on the executive and management level. Expectations to perform menial tasks gratis, under the guise of it being a necassary stepping stone to management. The reality being (at least as far as Cincinnati is concerned) that there are no opportunities as they cannot find any qualified candidates... perhaps due to the fact turnover is easily 85%. Compensation (25%) is low by industry standards (40%.) Try too hard to be hip with patio keggers, corny contests and shameless in-house promotional videos. Atmosphere is very much like a high school (interestingly the CEO and top Execs all attended high school together.) You can make decent money but the trade off is extremely long hours cold calling, dealing with customer/carrier issues 24/7 and competitive cutthroat prospecting business pratices amoungst employees (which seems to be encouraged by management.) Work/Life balance is awful. Sadly vacations and holiday's become dreaded occasions.

Only if you're a frat boy

Pros

You can make good money

Cons

It's seriously like working in a frat house, and that isn't my thing. Plus I am for women's rights and you're not allowed to hire many women at all, and generally no one over 30.

Total Quality Logistics Response

To our former Lexington employee – We’d like to address these serious accusations. While we acknowledge that roles in the transportation industry are not an obvious career choice for us (yes, I’m a woman), women are some of our most successful brokers at TQL and we work hard to maintain a diverse workforce. As the broker position is an entry-level sales position, we do have many applicants who are early in their careers. This is true of any sales-driven company. Perhaps it felt like a frat house to you, but many employees appreciate the energy that brings to the company. Also, our Lexington team has a great history of successful women. Just in the last few months, we have had another woman move into sales management, we have a sales rep who is a key player in our national "Women In Logistics" group, another female recruiter has been promoted twice in less than a year, and best of all a woman who was one of only a handful of founding members to launch the Lexington office in late 2011 has now moved on to another city to lead and open an office of her own. We are stronger because of the women at TQL. We welcome as many strong women as we can get. We would however appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns. Please contact our HR department. Your identity can be kept in complete confidentiality, but it is important we understand why you feel this way and what experience may have led to this opinion you have formed about TQL.
