Pros

Exposure to stock market and financial trading. Engineers are easy to work with for the most part. You can use the Tradestation app for free with some intraday data. Very diverse workforce with no ethnic discrimination.

Cons

Very little chance of promotions based on merit - Texas facility saw no promotions for years while constant promotions occurring in Florida even to incompetent employees. Token gestures of appreciation in place of actual ones. Subpar benefits - if you have a family expect to spend $800+ on health insurance each month. Minimal bonuses offered with long vesting period. Low single digit raises even with good performance. Engineers not treated as professionals, but as drones to be ordered around by product mgmt. Random decisions made by management with insufficient input and ADHD type behavior at times - crisis management occurs often. Overzealous IT department that gets in the way of work getting done by ridiculous locked down Internet access and constant virus scanning which slows the network to a crawl. Overhiring going on now which will probably result in layoffs later.

Pros

-Work from home -relaxed environment, nobody really cares if you just disappear for a few hours as long as stuff gets done by the deadline -good pay for the amount of work -unlimited PTO -people are generally polite and friendly

Cons

-No loyalty. We all saw the company fire a third of our department then start hiring for those same positions within a week -Wide range of competencies for the same level, we've had SEs who were barely literate -Spaghetti code base with little documentation, anybody who knew how something was supposed to work has probably been fired. Upside of this is nobody knows how long a task should take so you can mostly bs time estimates.
