Awful Place To Work For

Pros

No one works past 5pm and free soda.

Cons

If you want to ever advance in your career, do not buy the hype you’re sold in the recruiting/interview process. This company is tanking and it has a lot to do with individuals in management who should never have been promoted. Do a quick look on LinkedIn, and you will see that the majority of the employees are recent college graduates. The reason for this is, Trader is low on he payscale and they know entry level applicants will do anything, even unethical, to get the job done.

It's disappointing to hear from an employee who sees things in such a negative light. That said, if leaving at 5pm is a priority for you, consider how that mindset may be standing in your way wrt career progress. There's a lot more going on at Trader you can tap into to show your value and develop your skills, if you're willing to put in the effort. I will ask that you bring any unethical behavior to the attention of your manager or the HR team immediately, as that's not something we tolerate as a company. Our HR hotline (# in guidebook) allows you to make that report anonymously, if you're more comfortable. The HR team is also available to discuss your other concerns, at any time.

Dead End?

Pros

- Great Downtown Norfolk location. Very Central to all 7 cities. - Very nice office space and building. - Great work/life balance -Ample vacation time

Cons

I've been with the company for almost 4 years and have yet to see any upward mobility. My supervisor has continually promised things in my almost four years and none of it has come to fruition. I've even tried to move outside of my department into a new role, but received little to no support from my supervisor all of which baffles me because in my one performance review in my 4 years I received good marks. I feel like I'm just turning my wheels here and being lied to continually. As an employee in good standing I wish that I didn't feel this way and didn't have to write anything negative. But at some point when you feel defeated you have to say something without the feeling of being judged.

I appreciate the balanced review , and would like to help. It's unfortunate that you feel you haven't been provided growth opportunities, and please consider talking with the HR team about how we can help you and your manager map out a clear plan. Every employee should feel that he or she has room to build an outstanding career at Trader, and every leader in our org should be helping to cultivate that feeling among employees on a daily basis.
