Pros

Nothing is worth the stress and frustration this company offers.

Cons

Unrealistic work loads. No work life balance whatsoever. Train yourself as you go. Management refuses to see survey results for what they are and realize they are the problem. Can't trust management. They take credit for what the employees in the trenches do. Underwriters not only underwrite but have to basically case manage the cases too.

Pros

I did gain some lifelong friends. For many I am saddened that they feel they must stay in this place.

Cons

Human Resources : highly trained in lying, deceiving, working solely for management. You cannot go to them and expect that you will get the help you need. They throw away legal documents, lie in unemployment reviews, and work with management to get away with it. It was my mistake that I did not get copies of the documents. When they go through and do their sweep, they do it so all other members of the departments can see it and have to watch with those deer in the headlights look Very clique based. Management never cared and actually promoted this behavior. They promote from within. Their buddies. They know nothing about the job they have entered and it is detrimental to the team, department, company. When my peer was promoted to my boss, we lost 7 people on our team. Did I mention there were 9 total on the team.

Pros

You can wear jeans on Fridays.

Cons

Management out of touch with the realities of the internal workforce. Management doesn't manage issues, strategically steer the company, and listen to employees who are trying to make things better. Career advancement is a joke. Doesn't exist. Actual promotions happen rarely. I have no idea what it takes to get one. The company doesn't believe in spending money or time for internal or external training. You teach yourself on your own time and dime, or they'll find someone from the outside who knows it already and bring them in. Moral low because new "shared services" division EBS is causing people to wonder when they will lose their job, and if you do happen to make it into this new division, that doesn't mean your job is safe from elimination. Salary below market. Raises below market and some years won't happen. Best to keep your mouth shut and nod, this increases your chance of getting a decent review or even being in line for a bonus. If the economy was better I would have left already. ZERO work-life balance - 60 hour weeks with weekends expected is the norm. No comp time for extra work done. You would think all that extra effort would matter at review time, but it does not. Management preaches employee empowerment as a core value, but they don't treat their employees with respect. Now management is on the hunt to outsource local staff with offshore workers - another ill-conceived idea that will hurt quality and damage company reputation in the long run. If you are deciding on coming into the company, you'd be better off long term looking elsewhere.
