Insurance Rep/Territory Manager
Pros
I love the freedom I have as well as the support I receive. I had the opportunity to take over a territory of existing clients, which is something that no other career agency offers. The pay structure seemed a lot more stable than the other places I looked at (all with blue in their logos). I do absolutely zero cold calling, I get a salary to maintain relationships with existing clients. I get a bonus on every single paycheck plus 2 additional big bonuses throughout the year. AND I still get all of the commissions I earn. I have 3 revenue streams as opposed to just commissions like at the big mutuals. It also seems to be the most diverse as far as Reps and clientele. Also the benefits are head and shoulders above the rest, and there are ZERO expenses, I am a W-2 employee FOR LIFE, not just for a couple years then kicked out to try to survive as a 1099 independent contractor.
Cons
Due to being given existing clients and a guaranteed pay floor on each paycheck, there is some micromanagement built in to ensure that I am properly servicing the existing clients and that I have the proper habits that drive activity. Sometimes I have to attend meetings that I feel are beneath me at this point in my career.
