Pros

Pay. Training. 401k. Health care expensive here vs. last employer.

Cons

Poor local management talent. Promotions and annual reviews not based on results. No consistency in evaluation across organization, leaving local management to arbitrary decisions on pay and performance evaluation. Top leadership wastes money on stock buy-backs. Good if you're Jay Fishman- bad for stockholders and employees (ie, no reinvestment in employees and service).

Pros

The culture at Travelers is very consistent and stable. There are many people who have been there 30+ years. The Benefits are excellent (Pension + 401k + health/dental/vision + bonus + stock options). Vacation is 20 days minimum with option of buying 5 and it increases as you are there longer.

Cons

Travelers is doing a lot off-shoring of Technical Jobs, which hurts the company internally. There is not enough emphasis on internal training.
