Pros

There are definitely pros for working with Travelers company wide. Note: I was a field adjuster for 3 years. As an outside rep, you will get a very nice company car. Free gas, personal use of vehicle (at a premium, of course), health benefits, great PTO plan, and the opportunity to work remotely. Also, the training is great. Paid trip to a state of the art facility in Windsor Connecticut.

Cons

Travelers is a huge company. It's very black and white - sort of stuck in "a certain way of doing things". With that said, you are the lowest man on the totum pole. Chances are, your management has little to no interest in you as a person. They are consumed with Metrics. If you are new to adjusting, you will get buried with claims. It just happens. In my experience, there is no support. Everyone is too busy covering their own behinds to realize that the staff is struggling. Claims are tough, yet rewarding work. If you don't have management support, you'll go absolutely insane. Caviot: this is my experience in several offices throughout several states. If you don't care about work life balance, are okay with drinking the kool-aid of a company wearing unbreakable blinders, and don't mind striving to succeed for people who don't care about you, then you'll be okay.

Pros

A lot of paid time off & decent benefits.

Cons

Minimal annual raises, continuously working on outsourcing all non phone jobs, company cares more about numbers than how the employees feel. They screen scrape so they can watch your every move and accuse you of doing things wrong on a daily basis. Large amount of employees with anxiety and stress related illnesses. Every system change that is made is worse than the last. When they do layoffs, those who put most their lives into the company are the first to go. Tons of micromanaging. Makes it impossible to breathe there.

Pros

The interview process was transparent. The benefits are great. Management is engaged.

Cons

The team is distributed across multiple locations, yet three days in office are mandatory. I have yet to attend a single meeting with others in-person, as all my mentors, managers, and teammates are located in another city. But still I have to drive 30 minutes. Pay $15 a day to park. Sit in virtual meetings. Eat lunch alone without the benefit of my kitchen. Pay for pet care. And drive 30 minutes home. I am unlikely to stay at Travelers long and it's entirely due to this policy.
