Internal clinician team great, other staff members depend

Pros

-Collaborative among clinicians. Direct clinical administration is great to work with. Inmates/clients love to see you and you truly feel a deep sense of purpose working everyday

Cons

-Officers can be hard to work with. Some understand your role as a clinician is important to inmates, others are just annoyed you want to help and take up their time to ask to see inmates.

Pros

If one did not have much experience with other agencies or know people with experience with other agencies one might believe there are "drama issues" with TCSO. However, due an association I used to belong to I had interactions with many Officers/Deputies from agencies across the country. Overall, TCSO has very few drama issues and almost no ethical issues to speak of.

Cons

The salary issues at TCSO are several and not likely to be fixed any time soon. I'm lucky in that I reached the height of my position's pay scale before the scale was frozen. We have some Deputies who are making less than new hires because their pay was frozen by the TC Commissioner's Court. The new hires were given credit for prior experience with other agencies and began with more pay than Deputies who had served a comparable or longer term with TCSO.

Pay is great for the job and benefits are great as well. some sergeants are understanding and human.

Cons

Chain of command doesnt care about, officers that will throw you bus the bus any chance they get. night shift is boring at times.
