Pros

Generally a very positive environment, with very friendly coworkers throughout the facility. It is easy to make friends, even with those from other departments. The victim advocates are very passionate, and dedicated to serving the needs of the victims as best they can. There is a good amount of communication and teamwork. There are many opportunities for learning and growing, and the organization seems to prioritize keeping employees up-to-date on the newest concepts and resources available. This learning atmosphere also includes learning from your fellow coworkers and clients, as everyone makes an effort to be involved in learning about the needs and goals of other departments. There are occasional treats and fun events, along with a gym that rarely seems to get crowded. In spite of the often-serious subject matter, those in the organization still work with humor and a sense of fun (when appropriate).

Cons

Very law-enforcement focused, which is understandable, but sometimes what is best for law enforcement is not what's best for the victims being served. Due to these differing priorities, there can be some friction between those working directly with victims and those in upper management. This friction can sometimes verge on disrespectful and unprofessional. There can also be some issues with organization and communication, as issues sometimes need to be brought up several times before any progress is made.
