Working on government contracts can be frustratingly slow, especially coming from a more dynamic educational environment. There is often a long runway before ideas can really take off (but the company was doing some work to address this just when I was leaving). Sometimes feels a little management heavy too, but again is necessary to handle the paperwork and compliance burdens of being a defense contractor.
Lots of lip service given to diversity, but could take some concrete actions to improve it (name blind hiring, better recruiting from more diverse sources, support structures for underrepresented demographics).
