Good company, good purpose, making big changes

Pros

Tri-State is a not-for-profit power company that works for its member/owners, which is a plus, they are not in business to make money for shareholders on the backs of the customers. They are making changes to cut costs, become more efficient, implement green energy all while maintaining reliability. Lots of upside opportunity but the road ahead is rough.

Cons

Compared to the power business historically, which has been pretty "safe and easy", maybe even bland, Tri-State is making changes which can be challenging if you don't like that kind of thing. On the other hand, if you like being on the leading edge of change in the electric utility business, this might be for you.

Leading the cooperative energy transition

Pros

The cooperative is heading in a really exciting direction and work feels very meaningful as a result. Colleagues are great: reliable, getting the job done, but thoughtful, interested in you as a person.

Cons

Being in transition means there are tons of pieces moving, which sometimes feels a little disjointed, though coordination is improving and things are going the right direction.

Pros

Teams work well within the departments. Good retirement benefits and PTO. 50% remote work.

Cons

Management no longer has the employee's best interest in mind. High stress environment. Salary slightly lower than industry average. Old-school mindset in upper levels of management.
