Pros

The pay is alright and the hours are okay.

Cons

I started working here with high-hopes. The downside was the reality of the situation. My boss made me fill out the forums on clientele in a negative light to keep them there longer for insurance money. We were forced to infer mainly negative things. When I spoke up about this in a board meeting I was fired. The place is ran as a detention facility that rakes in profit. Most of the kids don't deserve to be here nor accept the treatment they receive. If people really knew what this place was doing it wouldn't exist.

Pros

I loved the freedom to create the Prevention Program the way I wanted to. It was a wonderful way to try out new curriculum, develop therapeutic groups to meet current client needs, etc. Working in schools was great and there was a nice partnership between the agency and the school.

Cons

I did not feel supported as an employee. Clinical supervision was lacking and due to the nature of the position I was the only mental health professional in the school regularly. The caseloads were high and very intensive in needs. Lots of crisis intervention work, which was good practice but bad for burnout.

Pros

I liked the people I worked with.

Cons

Years later and I am still processing the violence and trauma from this position. The physical violence at work was one piece of the trauma, the treatment of staff by supervisors was a whole other thing.
