Depends on the Group

Pros

There are some really great people here, but it is highly dependent on the group you work for.

Cons

Salary isn't always competitive. Many under-performing, badly behaved employees are allowed to remain while stand out employees leave or are pushed out. No sense of unity as a company, each division is run like a separate company with its own standards and operations.

Steady company with interesting work

Pros

Trimble has a wide variety of interesting projects across the divisions, so there is always interesting work going on somewhere. The company is also well-run financially, and has maintained profitability for many years, so there's no danger of everything going belly-up.

Cons

One reason that the company is in such good financial shape is that the CEO maintains a tight rein on expenses. So pay is average or below, and layoffs are common when times are tight. More importantly the focus on numbers means that management can be short sighted, trying to make this quarter's numbers and losing sight of the long view.
