Pros

The only pro is that the hospital is located right across the street from the best water ice you will ever get in the state of Delaware. The administration down to the unit educator and unit manager are incompetent. The hospital is on the brink of closing by the looks of the hospitals condition and the old 1970s wall paper that’s still present on the walls. The people there including the nursing chief and HR are only there to listen to see other and not the staff that matters. I was treated like I stole something instead of finding a solution about my need to go to my daughters specialty appointments because she’s a sick special needs child. They are fortunate that I did not reach out for a ADA accommodation because I could have won a major law suit due to the management staff incompetence. I was only treated this way because I was an outsider and the only educated black person they have seen in quite some time. I’m sure due to the area the hospital is in they are used to dealing with those that struggle from the inner city and unfortunately a majority of those people are black. But fortunately for me, I am not from that area and I come from quality background and speak up when I see something wrong. I will not stay silent. I will spread the word of my treatment. St Francis your days are limited especially all your days in L&D and maternity. You barely are getting any one that’s willing to come to your shady hospital to give birth. In a couple of years everyone with just divert to Christianacare’s women’s and children because your hospital has very simple minded people that are not willing to change with the times. Nurses don’t eat there young anymore, we love and help each other and look out for each other. This new generation of nurses and the new way of caring for staff and patients will be the one thing that shuts your hospital down. Mark my words when I say none of you will have that job in a few years and when you try to navigate your way to a new system you will either meet me again or find someone just like me. Dear black nurses, you are so much better than this hospital. Go where we are appreciated and not expected to be ghetto and low class.

Cons

Everything and everything about the staff, management and nursing administration. Learn to love diversity and actually show diversity in your administration. You are caring for a black community, your staff and leadership should reflect that. And hire better nurse educators that are less racist than Noreen and Katie in Maternity.
