Pros

Great location, facilities, frontline team, environment and industry.

Cons

Nepotism rules, and if you're prepared to dispense with your morals and principles then join the leadership team in Edinburgh! The sad thing is that we had some really good, professional leaders in place who were committed to supporting the team, but it's clear that approach wasn't welcome and sadly they have gone over the last couple of years, and taken a lot of good experience with them. The latest regime loves the sound of their own voice, and will happily sit and talk about all they have achieved, and talk textbook theories (Six Sigma, Lean, STAR Feedback Model) but can't actually apply any of it effectively. In reality, they are only interested in their own self worth and climbing the ladder!

Pros

None really - although the office in London is nice.

Cons

My experience working in the HR EMEA team at Trip.com in in the London office was a complete nightmare. Micromanagement and a terrible work-life balance were the norm, as you were expected to work long hours with no recognition and under at times a toxic HR EMEA management team with no real understanding of best practices in the UK or Europe. Processes were imposed by the Shanghai Head Office and delivered wholesale by the HR EMEA leadership team without considering regional implications. Communication was another significant issue at this company, often unclear and leading to a blame culture. High turnover in the HR team was due to a lack of motivation from management. Promotions were only granted to those who followed the HR EMEA leader's every word, creating a dictatorial atmosphere. The benefits package was pretty awful, offering only 24 days of vacation per year, despite being a travel agency. Their 'flexible hybrid policy' was anything but flexible, requiring employees in the HR team to work in the office on Fridays, even when there were fewer than five people present. I have to advise to avoid this company unless you enjoy micromanagement and messy HR procedures.

Thank you for taking the time to provide detailed feedback. We regret that we were unable to hear from you while you were employed by Trip.com, as we would have appreciated the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail. We are sorry to hear that your experience at Trip.com was not as positive as we strive for. We take pride in prioritizing our people agenda and empowering our teams to work both collaboratively and independently therefore, is unfortunate that your experience did not reflect this. Regarding your reference to annual leave, we can confirm that our UK offices offer 32 days per year. We also promote work-life balance and employ many colleagues from varying demographics with demands that are supported by the business. We are dedicated to foster a supportive, fair, and balanced culture in our workplace. Recently we have launched a new suite of policies, procedures and toolkits that consider regional needs to ensure that we drive a healthy working culture. Cross-region collaboration is indeed a challenge in a global company like ours, but we're working on addressing the issues. Many optimized practices are currently in development and while this process takes time, we appreciate your input and assure you that we are focused on key areas for improvement. We value the remainder of your feedback and are keen to discuss this further with you for better understanding - please do contact us by emailing emea.hr@trip.com and our team will arrange a suitable time. Best wishes for the future and look forward to hearing from you. Trip.com Group

Pros

The salary is sort of decent for what you do. 24k annually.

Cons

Very toxic environment and gossip. I walked away from the company after 4 months because of a conflict of interests. Their revenue is based on deceiving their customers and selling extra products that they could get for free with the airline. You have no freedom in the office. They don't even let you read a book despite the fact that you get 2-3 calls a day. You're supposed to look at the screen the whole day.
