This company cares about it's employees

Pros

It’s obvious that management at Trividia cares about employees and their families. Executive management is extremely aware of how certain business decisions affect the employee lives. For example, the company closed 2 full business days ahead of Hurricane Irma to allow employees to prepare for the storm. After the storm, the company remained closed for a few days as they knew how difficult it would be for us to come back to work dealing with the aftermath. The company paid us for every day they were closed and didn’t even require us to use our PTO time. Our employee benefits are great too. Our medical plan has very low co-pays and the company pays over 80% of the premiums. The company places an emphasis on employee wellness. We get annual merit increases and generous bonus programs. The company has annual employee picnics and other employee events that make it fun to be a part of the Trividia Team.

Cons

Every company has their own issues and you cannot make everyone happy, but I cannot think of anything so negative that it would be worth mentioning in this review.

Beware office politics

Pros

Compensation is higher than average, but that may be about to change after recent shakeups in the company's reorganization.

Cons

Lots of office politics! If you're in the right clique, if you kiss up to the right person, you can advance through the ranks rapidly, or at least ensure you get good job performance reviews. I personally witnessed a bunch of workers piling into a supervisor's office just so all of them could play the supervisor's favorite online video game together during lunch, and this happened on a regular basis. The same supervisor, a married man with kids, was also widely rumored within the department to be having an affair with the secretary. That's the kind of toxic fraternization you can expect. With the recent reorganization, a different person is now calling the shots, but he is just as bad if you're not in the right clique. Do not expect a fair job performance review if you're not willing to kiss up to the right people.

Pros

Above average compensation, investment in technology, high quality professionals with relevant experience

Cons

Most of the aforementioned experienced professionals have been laid off or ousted from leadership; management now focused on nonsensical project metrics and babysitting employees. Cronyism is rampant and over-rules meaningful product/process development.
