Working in First-Year Studies in one of the tutoring centers is a great experience

Helpful training is provided, hours are very flexible, the culture and camaraderie is supportive, and of course you learn best by teaching

Cons

Salaries are stuck at minimum wage, and students are severely limited by the 15 hour a week university policy and budgetary concerns

The department chairs are respectful and offer autonomy. The students on the Troy, Al campus are pretty good. They mostly come to class and are ready to participate.

Cons

Adjuncting is a dead-end road anywhere, especially without a terminal degree.

I was given the opportunity to work around my schedule. I liked how it was salaried. I liked the feeling of being a part of something "big".

Cons

My coworkers are brown-nosers. Women cannot move up in the organization without being married to a successful man. Upper management claims they want to understand the workers on the front lines; but they don't. Instead, they create very, very unrealistic goals.
