Pros

Trustmark is a good place to get a start. They have a great environment, seem to be the most willing to higher candidates with little or no bank experience especially if you apply to teller pool. The people are nice in general and management is good in general I traveled to a lot of branches and the environment was always pleasant. They offer a tuition reimbursement for full time employees (I can’t remember how much) and my coworkers say the health benefits are good. The dress code at trustmark is lax, I wore a Hawaiian shirt and khakis most days. Paid vacation and sick days and holidays are off and paid for like most banks. 401k matching up to 6%. The job for me was a fairly steep learning curve but the trainning was great and lengthy and once you get used to it it’s very easy. Also if you’re at a branch with a pullout drawer in the drive thru I suggest you do your best to avoid it, tell them you have allergies or soemthing, any excuse to get you off of it. People constantly go to that drawer and feel entitled to be served first even if they got there after someone else and they like to stare into your soul at that window.

Cons

Pay. Starting pay is $11 an hour which is industry minimum. As of the time of writing Bancorp south pays $15, regions pays $15, Wells Fargo pays $15, and Chase pays $18. I would highly consider working at one of these banks first.
