• "The blame game" - many individuals across the company, including the majority of upper management never took responsibility for actions that were made. Time would be wasted blaming, yelling, and putting people down than finding a solution to issues affecting the company or the products. • "The Clique nature of the company" - if you didn't fit in, it was well noted or "transparent" as management and the CEO would say. • "Fake promotions, followed with little opportunity for growth" - Your salary would go up 10% in 6 months if you followed the vague and dated "where you should be at in x days chart". This gave a false sense of continuous growth since after those 6 months getting more opportunities for different roles went to those in the Clique or outside sources. There were only a few that deserved the promotions given. • "Difference in opinions" - If you have different opinions on topics from what management or the CEO believes is the "correct" its better to not say and agree with them otherwise you get a random 1 on 1 confrontation that is labeled a "conversation". • "Unrealistic Perfect mentality" - Work that you do will need to be 100% perfect with no room for error, even if it is your first time working on that project. It is difficult to learn anything with this kind of mentality. • "Pivot, Pivot, Pivot" - If it doesn't work the 1st time or the 100th just change it slightly and hope for the best. With the many pivots training was unavailable due to the constant change every few months in what was expected. There was a true lack of consistency within the direction of the company. • "Stress overload" - Be expected to work past 8 hours sometimes 12 or 14 hours to meet deadlines. Work life balance is non existent and are told that you aren't a good worker and are lazy if you don't put in more than 8 hours a day, even if you finished all your assigned work perfectly. • "Unqualified hires in management" - Simply put people hired into management roles were unqualified and would take lead roles in editing products they have never seen before. This meant work had to be re-worked to want management "thought the client wanted" only for the client to come back and demand it be changed to how it was before. This resulted in management blaming you and forcing you to stay late and finish the project. • "No voice" - Working here means you really don't get a say even regarding the work that you're in charge of and have the most experience in. Management will constantly question your thought process and tell you why you're wrong with no explanation. There were plenty of other reasons why working here is not recommended but I also don't want you to have to read a book about it. One final take away that I got during my time with the company was I learned what a company shouldn't be. A company should be something that you're proud to be apart of not a cage where you feel trapped. Bottom line is there are always better opportunities to develop your career, look around.
