Pros

Somewhat flexibility, Opportunity to teach at home

Cons

Low pay and you are responsible for all the expenses very unreliable income, hard to get hours specially in summer Annoying students from time to time you are expendable they see you as a robot quality is not important for them zero benefit, they do everything to save money at your expense No matter how good you are at your work they will always find reasons to complain and the mentor they assign to you basically does nothing but to find a single bad session and pile on it even of you have done 100 excellent tutoring sessions

Pros

I have had the privilege of working with Tutor.com, and I've had a great time there. They gave a great training experience to learn exactly how to work with students, and the Tutor.com software they used for tutoring students was very expressive in communicating with students, which was essential to have a successful tutoring session. Also, it really helps that Tutor.com gives you your own hours to work with, so this is very convenient when it comes to a busy schedule. In short, 1.) Great training program 2.) Easy-to-use tutoring software 3.) Set up your own hours

Cons

On the other hand, I've had difficulty getting students in order to tutor. Some hours, I'm completely open (this is called "floating"), and I would this for hours at a time, with varying success. This instability had me question my financial status more often than not, which was an uncomfortable position to be in. In short, 1.) "Floating tutors" have a consequence leading to unstable income Of course, Tutor.com is a recent program, so the enterprise is still growing.
