Pros

As long as the minimum wage in your state is high, tutor.com is a great side-hustle. Lots of flexibility.

Cons

You NEED to know your material. You can't reject many sessions, even if they are outside your exact expertise.

Pros

The hours are extremely flexible. I'm able to work as little as 5 hours per week or up to 28. I can schedule timeslots or "float" and pick up sessions here and there. A 100% work-from-home position.

Cons

My hours cap at 4 per day, which means that in order to max out my income I have to work every day with no weekend. When floating, you only get paid for time spent in-session. If you have scheduled hours, you get paid a waiting rate, but scheduled hours are extremely limited. Work is steady when school is in-session, but it dries up almost completely over summer and during holidays. No benefits.

Pros

Remote work, flexible hours, and you can get a sense of satisfaction when you help someone reach that "a-ha" moment.

Cons

Pay is not great, work is repetitive, no benefits, no real chance to rise up the ladder. No coworker interaction.
